Finding Inspiration

Finding Inspiration

Being inspired is certainly not an issue for me.  In fact, being over-inspired is.  This year my schedule has been packed with travel…and with travel comes sights and ideas that result in designs.

Case in point, I went to the Museo Frida Kahlo during a trip to Mexico City last month.  It's hard to capture the essence of who Frida was in a few words, so I'll let you read up on her here

Her art, style and politics made her so iconic, and it's obvious how well revered she is as you walk around the city and see all the Frida memorabilia in the markets and shops.

I wanted to design a piece in rich jewel tone colors that could be worn like a Mexican Rebozo shawl in a fabric that resembles a printed textile. I wanted the dimensions to be somewhere between a scarf and a shawl so it could be worn both ways.

The Frida Kit includes luxury yarn – a blend of Merino Wool and Mulberry Silk that makes it drape beautifully and will stand the test of time, and oh those rich saturated colors!  I'll leave you with a few moments I captured at the Museo Frida Kahlo or La Casa Azul.
